Why are some Dicodes products becoming available again?

If you have followed Dicodes over the years, you will know that the original company, Dicodes GmbH, closed down.
We are very pleased to be able to say that a limited selection of the Dicodes devices are now being made again. We wanted to explain clearly how that has come about and who is behind it, so you know exactly what you are buying.

Who is making them?

The devices are manufactured on behalf of DWA by Plan A Electronics Service GmbH, an independent German electronics company with extensive technical experience in Dicodes products and their underlying technology.

Plan A Electronics Service GmbH was founded by the wife of the former chief developer of Dicodes GmbH. This close technical background means that production, technical support and servicing can be provided with a high level of product-specific expertise.

Is this the same company as before?

No, and this is an important distinction:

The current arrangement is a new and independent business structure. Neither DWA nor Plan A Electronics Service GmbH is the legal successor of Dicodes GmbH, and neither company has assumed the former company's liabilities, obligations or contractual responsibilities.

DWA owns and manages the Dicodes brand, while Plan A manufactures and services the products on DWA's behalf.

What this means for you

It means a selection of Dicodes devices is available to buy again, built and backed by people who genuinely understand the technology. We will add models back to the range as they become available, so it is worth checking back if there is a particular device you are waiting for.
